Every list of "best UK universities for Indian students" is really a list of universities that recruit heavily in India. That is not the same as the best choice for you. Here is a better set of criteria.
1. The course, not the institution
A strong course at a mid-ranked university beats a weak course at a famous one, in both learning and employment terms. Read the module list, the assessment structure, and whether there is a placement or industry project.
2. Graduate outcomes for that specific course
UK universities publish Graduate Outcomes data. Look at the course, not the institution average - the variation between courses inside one university is often larger than the variation between universities.
3. Location economics
Rent in London can consume the difference between two universities' fee levels several times over. Consider strong institutions in cities with lower living costs - your total three-year cost may differ enormously for a similar qualification. See top UK cities for Indian students.
4. Support for international students
Ask specifically: is there a dedicated international student adviser? What careers support is available to international students, and does it cover visa-aware job searching? Is there an active Indian or South Asian society?
5. Employer links and placement record
Ask how many students on your course completed a placement last year and where. Vague answers usually mean the answer is "few".
6. Entry requirements you can actually meet
Apply to a spread. If your current qualifications fall short of direct entry, that is a routing question, not a rejection - a recognised Level 3 or foundation qualification brings you to entry standard on a UK-native credential.
What to weigh less than you think
League table position in isolation, glossy brochures, and agent recommendations where the agent is paid a commission by the institution. Ask any adviser directly whether they receive commission - a straight answer tells you a lot.
