Students from India move from a pathway to a UK degree by meeting the receiving university's conditions for the exact qualification, grades, subjects, English evidence and entry year. A foundation diploma, an International Year One and a Level 3 business diploma are different routes. None should be treated as automatic entry to every UK university.
Start with the degree you want
Choose a subject and shortlist degree courses before choosing a pathway. Read each university's current India entry requirements: your school-leaving qualification may already be considered for direct entry, or the course may require preparation. Keep the board name, subjects, grades and English evidence together so admissions can assess your actual background.
ICSE, ISC and CBSE are not interchangeable labels for the same qualification or stage of school. Provide the full certificate title and year. Our CBSE, ICSE and ISC pathway guide gives a checklist for that conversation; the receiving university makes the admission decision.
Foundation, Level 3 or International Year One?

For a published example, the University of Exeter describes its foundation route as leading to Year 1 subject to progression grades, and its International Year One programmes as preparation for Year 2 of relevant degrees. These are Exeter's own routes, not an LSBUK partnership or a promise that Exeter accepts an LSBUK award.
A progression checklist before you enrol
- Identify the award. Record its full title, awarding organisation, qualification number, level and size.
- Ask your target university about that award. Give the degree title, intake year and intended delivery mode.
- Confirm the entry year. Ask whether it is accepted for Year 1 or a different specified stage.
- Record every condition. Include grades, required units, English evidence and additional school subjects.
- Check online delivery explicitly. Acceptance of a campus qualification does not automatically establish acceptance of its online route.
- Keep the written response. Recheck requirements for the intake you actually apply to.
You can ask: "Would you accept [full award and qualification number], completed [online/on campus], for [degree, entry year and intake]? Which grades, subjects and English evidence would I need?"
Studying an LSBUK pathway online from India
LSBUK publishes a Live Online route for the International Foundation Diploma, leading to the ATHE Level 3 International Foundation Diploma in Business (610/3256/6), and for the Level 3 Diploma in Business and Management, ATHE award 610/1764/4. Sessions run in UK time. Ask for the actual timetable and attendance expectations, then check the times in India, including UK daylight-saving changes. Starting online can avoid relocation during that stage; it does not guarantee later university acceptance or establish the total cost of a future degree.
Keep university admission and immigration requirements separate
An LSBUK enquiry, course offer or completed pathway is not a visa or a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies. If you need a Student visa for later UK study, check the current GOV.UK course and CAS requirements and the receiving provider's sponsor status. Academic admission, sponsorship and a visa decision are separate steps.
