Digital Marketing Internship Interview Questions to Prepare For

The questions marketing internship interviewers actually ask, why they ask them, and how to answer when you have little experience.

Two people in a friendly interview across a table

Internship interviews are not trying to catch you out - they are checking for attitude, basic knowledge and coachability. Prepare for the predictable questions and you will walk in calm. Here are the ones that come up most, and how to handle them with limited experience.

The questions you will almost certainly get

  • "Why digital marketing?" - Show genuine interest and a bit of self-awareness about the path in.
  • "What have you learned or practised so far?" - Point to a course, a project, a channel you have played with.
  • "Walk me through a campaign or brand you admire." - Demonstrates you observe marketing actively.
  • "What tools have you used?" - Analytics, a social scheduler, an ad platform, a CMS - even basic exposure counts.
  • "Tell me about a time you learned something quickly." - Coachability is what they are buying.

The unspoken things they assess

Reliability, curiosity, communication and whether you will be pleasant to have around. Interns are hired on potential and fit far more than on skill.

How to answer with little experience

Lean on your training and any projects. "In my digital marketing course with internship I ran a live brief where I..." turns thin experience into concrete evidence. Bring a small portfolio if you can - see how to build one.

Also prepare your own questions

Interviews go both ways - see what to ask during the interview.
