What Questions Should You Ask During a Digital Marketing Internship Interview?

The questions that reveal whether an internship will actually develop you - and help you spot the ones that will just use you.

The questions you ask in an internship interview do two jobs: they show you are serious, and they reveal whether the placement will genuinely develop you or just extract free work. Ask these before you accept anything.

Questions about what you will learn

  • "What will a typical week look like for me?"
  • "Which tools and channels will I get hands-on with?"
  • "Will I own any real tasks, or mainly observe?"
  • "How is feedback given, and how often?"

Vague or evasive answers here are a warning - see red flags in internships.

Questions about support

  • "Who will I report to, and will I have a mentor?"
  • "How do you usually support interns who are still learning?"

Good placements have thought about this. Bad ones have not.

Questions about outcomes

  • "Have past interns moved into paid roles here?"
  • "What does a successful internship look like to you?"
  • "Will I leave with a reference and portfolio pieces?"

These separate a genuine opportunity from unpaid labour.

Why asking is easier when you are trained

When you have done a structured course, you know enough to ask sharp questions and judge the answers. A managed digital marketing course with internship removes the guesswork entirely, because the placement is designed to develop you by default.
