How London School of Business UK Uses AI to Support Every Student
Most schools find out that a student is struggling when the results come in. By then the term is almost over and there is little time to put things right. We built our own in-house AI to change that, so we can see where a student needs help early enough to actually do something about it. This is how it works, and what it means for you.

What our AI actually does
Every week, our system reviews the routine academic signals a course already produces. It looks at attendance patterns, the way students approach their essays and assignments, the confidence students report in their own weekly module feedback, and the feedback teachers record. On their own, any one of these is just a data point. Looked at together, week by week, they show early where a student may be starting to slip, long before it would show up in a final grade.
From an early signal to real support
Spotting a signal early is only useful if it leads to action. When our AI flags that a student may be struggling, it goes to the tutor, who gives that student individual attention and builds a plan tailored to what they actually need. The point is not to label anyone. It is to make sure no one quietly falls behind while there is still time to help them catch up. For a closer look at why timing matters so much, read why we catch student weakness in week three, not week eight.
Keeping you, and parents, in the picture
Progress should not be a mystery. As a student moves through a course, we can share clear progress reports, and for younger learners, or where a student consents, we can share them with parents or guardians too. Everyone who needs to support the student can see how things are going and what is being done.
Why we built it ourselves
We did not buy this off a shelf. We built our own system so that it fits exactly how we teach and uses the data our own courses produce. That means the support a student gets is grounded in their real work on our programmes, not a generic model applied from the outside. If you are curious about how AI is being used more broadly in professional and business education, our executive's guide to AI covers the wider landscape.
In summary
Our in-house AI helps us see where each student needs support early, so tutors can give individual attention, build customised plans, and keep students and their families informed. It is one of the main reasons studying with us means being supported as an individual, not a number.
